2016年2月フィジーに襲来したサイクロン・ウィンストンの被害と伝統住居ブレの再建状況に関して、博士課程３年の宮地と修士課程1年のサイニメレ・ヴェイタタが、伝統住居が多く残るナバラ村とナコロンボヤ村にて現地調査を実施しました。被災後、政府の支援によってトタンの近代住居の再建支援が進められ、ほぼ全世帯において再建が終了していることが明らかになりました。ナバラ村では来年４月から伝統住居の再建が進められるとのことです。また、フィジー政府先住民省や大工訓練学校にて、研究の進捗とこれからの研究方針について報告しました。引き続き、伝統住居の再建について研究を進めていく予定です。

Mari Miyaji(D3) and Sainimere Veitata(M1) conducted the field survey in Navala village and Nakoroboya village affected by Tropical cyclone Winston in 2016. After the cyclone disaster, the government of Fiji supported reconstruction of western houses with CI sheet and most of households in both villages finished reconstruction. In Navala village, they will start to reconstruct traditional house ‘Bure’ in next year. We reported the progress and the research plan to iTaukei Affairs and CATD (vocational school). We will continue the field survey on the reconstruction of Fijian traditional houses.
