2016年2月フィジーに襲来したサイクロン・ウィンストンの被害・復興状況に関して、博士課程2年の宮地茉莉と研究生のサイニメレ・ヴェイタタが、伝統住居が数多く残るナバラ村において現地調査を実施しました。被災後、政府の復興支援により近代住居が急速に増える中、伝統住居の修繕も進んでいることが調査より明らかになりました。また、伝統住居の保全に関するワークショップを行い、保全に関する課題をまとめ、今後の方針を話し合いました。今後も継続してナバラ村の復興状況を把握するため現地調査を行うとともに、伝統住居の保全に関する住民主の活動を支援していく予定です。 

Mari Miyaji (D2) and Sinimere Veitata (RS) conducted the questionnaire and interview survey in Navala village, which has many traditional houses, in order to comprehend the extent of damage from Tropical cyclone Winston in 2016 and the current situation. After the cyclone disaster, the number of tin houses is increasing rapidly because of the government support. On the other hand, the villagers want to reconstruct traditional houses. We conducted the workshop on the conservation of traditional houses and discussed difficulties and solutions with local people. We will continue the field survey on the reconstruction in Navala village and support local activities on the conservation of traditional houses.
