2023年5月27日、前日に地球環境学堂の環境マネジメントセミナーで講演をお願いした建築家・新居さん、ヴァサンティさんご夫妻（新居建築研究所、https://www.nii-architects.com/）、研究室学生と共に京都建築専門学校の校長・佐野先生を訪問し、京町家、土壁の話を詳細に聞き、また土壁の体験塗りもさせていただきました。新居さんは空き家の再生に土壁等の自然素材を用いた工法の汎用化を目指しており、今回知り合いの佐野先生に土壁塗りの体験を要望され、今後徳島の住宅ストックの良質化に取り組んでいくとのことでした。

On May 27, 2023, we visited Kyoto Architectural College with architects Mr. Nii and Mrs. Vasanti (Terukazu Nii ＆ Vasanti Menon, Architects ＆ Associates, https://www.nii-architects.com/) and our laboratory students. Mr. Sano, the principal of the school, talked about Kyoto machiya houses and mud walls, and we had a chance to experience mud wall painting. Mr. Nii said that he would like to improve the quality of Tokushima’s housing stock in the future by using natural materials such as clay walls in the rehabilitation of vacant houses.
